Thank you for signing the petition requesting that our Board of Trustees call an emergency meeting with faculty to address the impact COVID-19 has had on both faculty and students.
We reached out to the President of the Board of Trustees, Susan Fish, and she directed us to work with our deans and management to communicate our needs. We mentioned that this strategy does not appear to be working in time to deal with the crisis we face now. We were also directed to reach out to the Chancellor about the many outstanding issues concerning the stay-in-place order. The meeting with the Chancellor was very cordial however he did not give any commitments concerning our four main issues:
- extra pay due to COVID;
- reimbursement for tech expenses;
- payment for late-start classes that were cancelled due to COVID;
- lowering enrollment caps, offering more sections (not fewer), and payment guarantees for faculty affected by class cancellations.
Tomorrow, May 5th, there is a Board of Trustees meeting at 7:00 pm. Some faculty plan to speak during the public comment portion of this meeting. Public comment will likely start anytime between 7:00 pm and 7:30 pm (we don't have the exact time).
We wanted to let you know in case you want to zoom in, listen, and support your colleagues.
